Decoding online e-commerce fraud/scam

 As mentioned in an earlier blog current trending online frauds/scams, this is the most popular fraud/scam technique,

 

Modus of Operandi -

1). Creates websites using WordPress or in Shopify or any other easy platform,

2). Put attractive products by giving huge discounts(sometimes ticket size keep to low i.e., 499-700),

3). Approach to payment gateway by all necessary required documents and website requirements,

4). Start marketing via Facebook/Instagram,

5). Start to get high volume of payments via social media channels marketing,

6). Once get payment, either they don't deliver any products or deliver fake/damaged/wrong products,

7). They may even create fake websites for the courier company to show tracking information about fake tracking numbers(they send fake courier tracking number SMS/email to the customer to keep them calm),

8). Once they get enough amount, they remove their domain, shut down all support numbers, emails,

9). Customers start complaining everywhere, but most of the time this fraudster doesn't get caught as many customers don't file any legal complaint with law enforcement authority,

10). By taking advantage of the mentality of most Indian customers they start with a new domain new company and new pg to make a scam again.
